Honesty? What good is that?

Observe the bizarre, ever-present conundrum of liberal politicians. They lie.

Now, pretty much all politicians lie -- and that doesn't make it okay. But liberals would never get elected if they ever told the truth. Observe the hapless Walter Mondale. He's the only liberal (outside of hopeless, brain-dead places like S.F. or N.Y.C.) who's intentionally told the truth in years. And, of course, after he tried to get elected on a platform of raising taxes, he got a historic butt-kicking.

Now, Republicans often try to get elected by promising to lower taxes. (Whether they really mean it or not is another story.) But they've got the lucky end of this stick because that's what people want to hear. (Notice that liberals know what people want, but don't actually care.)

Of course, taxes isn't the only issue. Don't you wish you could force feed liberals (well, all politicians, actually) truth serum?

Harry Reid: "I hate this country. That's why I'm so darned hostile toward its culture. We need WAY higher taxes and the rapid breakdown of anything that distinguishes us from western Europe."
BHO: "Y'all are too stupid to know what's best for you. Just give up all your freedoms and the nanny state will bring you utopia..."
Barney Frank Fudd: "I'm for equality for everyone. That's why we have to steal the earnings from the achievers and give it to the bums. We need to lower our standard of living for everyone except me...and the guy who was running a homosexual prostitution ring out of my house. I really like that guy..."
John Kerry: "Can you believe I've got to kiss butt on all these worms every six years just to keep my job? #$*@! constitution!"
Charlie Crist: " I'll say any darn thing I have to to maintain power! I'm having a fire sale on my convictions!"
